Since launching in 2024, URL Collective has invested in the long-term sustainability of community media by providing funding, strengthening organizational capacity, and creating opportunities for collaboration across the journalism ecosystem.
Our impact includes:
- Rapid-response funding. We provide Sustainability Fund grants — often within 48 hours — to help community media organizations respond to urgent operational, financial, and reporting needs.
- Strengthening organizations. We equip publishers and creators with training, business support, workshops, and professional development that strengthen long-term sustainability.
- Convening the field. We bring together journalists, creators, publishers, and funders through national convenings — including 200+ attendees across two National Press Club events and 55+ participants at our Amplify Local: News-Creator Partnerships workshop — to foster collaboration and shared learning.
- Amplifying community media. We expand the reach of independent newsroom work, including 75+ earned media placements across broadcast, print, and digital outlets in the first half of 2026.
- Building the ecosystem. We collaborate with national funders and peer organizations to launch joint initiatives, share resources, and strengthen community media.
